tanzwuchs#9 is looking for the next generation of choreographers in Freiburg!

tanzwuchs#9 supports the development of emerging choreographers by providing a professional setting for supported scenic research and performance, where artists are encouraged to take risks and to explore new ideas. tanzwuchs#9 culminates in an evening of short (ca. 10 min) pieces presented at SÜDUFER, E-WERK Freiburg.

Performances: 11th, 12th, 16th, 17th, 18th October
Rehearsal period: 29th September – 10th October

INFORMATION

WHO CAN APPLY?

  • Emerging choreographers with no more than 2 years of professional experience in creating their own work
  • Based in Freiburg im Breisgau (GER) or surrounding area
  • Artists who are willing to actively participate in peer-to-peer feedback

WHAT IS THE PROGRAM FOR?

  • To develop an existing work in progress into a short piece of no longer than 10 minutes
  • To perform the outcome in a professional setting
  • At the moment of application, the work should still be in development – we will not accept premiered pieces!

WHAT DOES TANZNETZ OFFER?

This is an offer for newcomers to provide them with space and support to finalise and perform a short work. This includes:

  • Two weeks of rehearsal space (to be shared with the other participants)
  • Video (wide shot) and professional photos from the dress rehearsal
  • Promotion campaign via teasers and social media
  • Performance fee of 150€ per performer and show
  • Structured feedback sessions to give and receive peer-to-peer feedback
  • Dramaturgical advice by Irene Carreño, Andrea Lagos
  • A written analysis/response about your performance to be published on our website

Application content

  1. Short biography of the participating artists, max. 1 page.
  2. Short description of the concept/idea for the piece you want to further develop, max. 1.000 characters
  3. 1 Video link of research material (only Vimeo or Youtube)
  4. Contact info: name, e-mail, telephone number and address

Participants are welcome to apply with as many proposals as they wish, although only one piece by each artist can be taken.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON THE FOLLOWING DATES:

Rehearsal Period: 29th September – 10th October
Mandatory Feedback Sessions: 29th and 30th September plus 1st October
Technical and Dress Rehearsals: 9th and 10th October
Performances: 11th, 12th, 16th, 17th, 18th October
