1:1 Dramaturgy consultancy

The 1:1 dramaturgy consultancy is aimed at everyone who is interested in developing reflective practice with regard to their own choreographic work and receiving individual feedback. In the one-to-one sessions, Tanznetz Freiburg invites experienced dramaturge to 6–8 sessions each.

Dance artists come with their question. They may be "big" questions or specific questions about their current work practice: in the 45-minute conversation, it can be thought about, looked at from different angles and reflected upon. In this way, Freiburg artists can seek advice throughout the year and develop different perspectives on contemporary dance and choreography.

The dates will be allocated chronologically after request by email to info@tanznetz-freiburg.de, subject: one:to:one drama consultation. Please give full information about your availability.

1:1 Beratung "creating access" with Stephanie Scheubeck

colors on my body in motion. creating access

What do accessibility mean in the context of neurodivergence and relaxed performance? How do I integrate these into my artistic work?

The consultation aims to identify and break down barriers that your audience, your team and perhaps even you as a project-based freelance artist are confronted with. We find ways to integrate accessibility into your artistic processes, projects and public events.

These barriers can take many forms. During the production phase, for example, the (time) structure of the rehearsal schedule, local conditions of the rehearsal rooms or forms of communication. In relation to the performance, these barriers can include sensory stimuli such as light and sound, special effects such as fog, content-related triggers, seating and audience situations and more.

Neurodivergence describes people who are outside the neurotypical norm and whose brain functions work significantly differently to neurotypical people. These people process information differently, learn differently and react differently than we would expect. “Relaxed Performance” is an event format that recognizes that certain environments, systems and settings create barriers for people because they do not take individual differences into account in their design. It is aimed at an audience that benefits from a more relaxed theater and event atmosphere. The principles of the format range from clear, understandable preliminary information to a relaxed approach to movements and noises from the audience. It creates an atmosphere of welcome for people who are excluded by the strict conventions of performance spaces: for example, people on the autistic spectrum, with Tourette's, with learning difficulties or chronic pain. But also simply those who feel comfortable in a more inclusive environment. During the consultation, we will explore whether and in what way this format is suitable for your work.

Stephanie Scheubeck is a neurodivergent artist with various forms of synaesthesia, in which one sensory stimulus or concept simultaneously and involuntarily triggers a second sensory stimulus/concept. For example, she perceives sounds & music, her body and smells as textured color forms arranged in and around her body. Stephanie conducts artistic and practical research into the connection between synaesthesia, dance and embodiment. She received her Masters in Dance with Distinction from Bath Spa University (2017, UK). Previously she studied Musical Theater, New Dance and Physical Theater Dance in Freiburg and Berlin. In 2016 she trained as a Somatic Practitioner. Stephanie's dance and digital performances, award-winning video art films and audiovisual installations are strongly influenced by her own synaesthetic experiences and are shown internationally. In 2018 she founded Sound & Colour Production, which promotes synaesthesia as an example of the diversity of perception in society through art and research.
