Ewelina Kotwa

Ewelina is a choreographer, performer, and researcher (Ph.D. in applied mathematics), uniquely blending sharp rationality and poetic sensitivity. She has spent her life navigating and bridging seemingly opposing realms: body and mind, science and the arts, material and spiritual. Born in Poland, Ewelina lived for a decade in Scandinavia and since 2014 is based in Freiburg, Germany. Here, she produces, choreographs, and performs on stage, viewing her work as an embodied form of activism and a way to engage with socio-political themes poetically. Her interests evolved around cyclicality, the relationship between humans and nature, and visions of the post-capitalistic era. Since 2019, she has been actively involved with two dance groups that she cofounded: twOne Company and Silent Cosmonauts Kollektiv, and since 2023 is cooperating with the renowned group Sisters Hope based in Copenhagen.
